CES-ON acknowledges National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
As a chapter, we would like to acknowledge today as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We stand in solidarity with our Indigenous members and community across Canada, who mark this day with grief.
We have taken today as a chance to reflect on the work we do towards reconciliation, and the learning we still need to undertake. We encourage our members to take meaningful steps as well, including donations to organizations like the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.
We are especially grateful to the grassroots Indigenous leaders who have created Orange Shirt Day in memory of their experiences in Canadian's residential school system.
We hope all Canadians will take this day as a challenge and an opportunity to examine our role in Canada's residential school system, and the part we each play in moving Truth and Reconciliation forward every year. We will carry this spirit forward in our chapter's work by listening to Indigenous voices in evaluation, and deeply examining how our practices support or lead to oppression.
