AGM Date Change: June 22

Note from the Ontario Chapter President:

The Board of Directors of the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) Ontario Chapter gave notice that the 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association will be held on June 22, 2016 at the Li Ka Shing Institute in Toronto.

The Board voted to move the AGM date from the usual fall (October/ November) date to the week following the CES National Conference, for a number of reasons including:
(a) making reporting more meaningful for members as reporting in the fall for the year passed 10-11 months prior was not ideal
(b) ensuring the financial audit is completed earlier in the year so as to ensure the process is most effective and efficient
(c) providing more transition time for on-boarding new directors over the summer period and,
(d) aligning more closely to the CES AGM.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see you all at the AGM on June 22, 2016! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email Nikhat Rasheed (president@evaluationontario.ca) or Kaitlyn Kochany (admin@evaluationontario.ca)

Board nominations open until May 31

How many vacancies is the board filling?

This year the Ontario Chapter has five (5) vacancies. Chapter members who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply:

  • Be a CES Ontario member in good standing; and
  • Leadership experience serving on a non-profit board and/or previous experience serving with a CES Ontario committee/ board; and
  • Passion and experience in at least one of the following areas: (a) strategic planning (b) marketing and event planning (c) finance and budgeting, or (d) policy development; and
  • Ability to commit for a three-year term.

I’d like to know more. What is required of a Board Member?

Joining the Board of Directors is a wonderful opportunity for interested evaluation practitioners to help develop and deliver services to members, as well as promote and strengthen closer ties with peers. Please note:

  • CES Ontario has a working board; the Executive (President, Treasurer, Secretary) and Committee Chairs oversee day-to-day operations performed by our staff/contractors.
  • CES Ontario Board Members serve in a voluntary capacity; there is no remuneration for service.
  • Board members must serve a three-year term, and typically spend 10-20 hours per month on Board initiatives.
  • The Board meets at least ten (10) times per year in a central Toronto location. Board members residing outside the GTA may join in via web meeting or teleconference.
  • Board members are expected to miss no more than 2 meetings per year, barring extenuating circumstances.

I’m interested. How do I proceed with my nomination?

  • Submit the following to nominations@evaluationontario.ca by Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 4:30pm.
    • Completed nomination form (available on evaluationontario.ca),
    • Brief bio (500 words or less) outlining leadership experience and passion
    • Current resume outlining volunteer/board work
    • Two references
  • Once nominations for vacant positions are received, the Nominations Committee will review all applications for eligibility. Applicants may be invited for an interview with the Nominations committee.
  • Chapter bylaws require that two CES Ontario members support a nomination (nominator and seconder). Please note that members of the Nomination Committee cannot support your nomination.
